What steps do I need to take to replace my data lens page with a Story?

Step 1: Create a new Story page

We recommend using the Flexible layout as it will give you the most control over the size of the cards, similar to Data Lens.

Note: Flexible Layout is in beta, not all rich media options are available to be resized.

For information on how to create a Story using Flexible Layout, click here.

Step 2: Give your new Story page a name

We recommend just using the title and description of your legacy Data Lens page.

You can always go back and change the Story’s title and description, for information on how to do that, click here.

Step 3: Add the Global Filter Bar

The Global Filter Bar is how you will tie a single data source to the Story page, similar to how a Data lens is created from a single source. Find the data source that was used in the legacy Data Lens and connect it to the Story’s Global Filter Bar.

Tip: If your previous Data Lens page had any saved filters, you can easily add those values in the Global Filter Bar!

Step 4: Start adding visualizations

We’ve made it easy to map legacy Data Lens cards to charts, maps and, tables by providing a reference table above

Remember to select the data source connected to the Global Filter Bar when creating visualizations if you would like users to have the ability to filter and search for data at a page level.

Below is a table of how various Data Lens card types map to the Visualization canvas settings in Stories.

We’ve also built out an example Storybased on legacy Data Lens page for reference too.
