In cases where you no longer want to include a column in a dataset, you can either hide or delete the column. The process for both deleting and hiding a column is fairly similar.
You can easily hide/delete a column by:
- Create a working copy
- Hide or Delete the column under the column menu or the manage panel.
- Publish the working copy of the dataset

Site Roles: Administrators, Publishers, and Editors who are also Owners
Dataset Permissions: Owners and Contributors
1.) The first step for both cases will be to create a working copy of the dataset. This can be done by selecting Edit > Edit Dataset while in the table view of the dataset.
2.) Once in the working copy, select the menu bar of the column that you are interested in. This will bring up a drop-down of options, including both Hide and Delete a column,
When hiding a column, you can also select Manage > Show & Hide Columns and unselect any columns you want to unhide.
3.) Once you have either deleted or hidden columns, the final step is to publish the working copy.
Important Note: If you wish to unhide or hide a column on a dataset that you are not the owner of, you will be asked to create a new filtered view when you save the working copy.
Updating associated views after hiding a column
You may have noticed that after hiding the column in the dataset, that the column is still appearing in any associated views and charts.
If you would like to hide a column from the view table, all you need to do is navigate to your view, select the manage button, then select the Show and Hide tab, then unselect the checkbox for the column you would like to hide. Columns hidden in the base dataset will still be displayed by default in associated views.
If the column is deleted from the dataset it will not appear in any of the derived views.
