Ease and reliability for accessing data
Gateway Agent Monitoring Dashboards
Manage your Socrata Gateway connection with dedicated Agent Dashboards! Each Gateway agent you provision now gets a standalone page that houses plugin creation and management, information on existing plugins, agent events pulled directly from your domain’s Activity Feed, and live-running agent log feeds. Access your new Gateway Agent Dashboards from the Gateway Administration page, by clicking on the hyperlinked “Plugins” value for an agent.

Required Metadata Description and Tags
It is now possible for you to require both tags and descriptions as part of the Data Management Experience. This functionality ensures that all datasets published on the Socrata platform will have both a tag and description associated with the asset for increased discoverability in the Catalog as well as better compliance with data governance policies.
Enhanced Custom Metadata on Primer Page
We’ve made it easier for clients with enhanced custom metadata to display a machine readable value as well as a human readable value on the Primer page. This new functionality allows users to better interact with metadata fields on the Primer page for domains that have enhanced metadata enabled. Please consult an example of this new functionality here.
Enabling users to answer questions
Introducing: Exploration Canvas
We are proud to introduce a brand new surface on the Socrata platform: the Exploration Canvas! The Exploration Canvas is an updated answer to the Grid View - taking tabular data exploration, data shaping, and derived view creation on our platform to the next level. By raising the standard for performance, functionality, and ease of use across these various activities, we envision a future where you’ll rely on it as your preferred data exploration and shaping surface.
The rollout of this feature begins now, with a limited beta program for SCGC internal domains only. In October 2021 the beta program will expand to include Open Data domains, and in early 2022 the feature will reach general availability for all platform customers.
SoQL Derived View Column Metadata Editing
In April, we updated SoQL derived views on the platform to inherit column metadata from their parent views. We are now pleased to enable users to edit this column metadata directly! This editing experience is exactly the same as that currently supported on non-SoQL derived views: users can simply navigate to the “Edit Columns” tool in the Grid View and modify column metadata (e.g. display name, description) on their SoQL derived view.
Export data from tables in Stories
Data is now more accessible with a direct way for users to export and download data, especially filtered data, from tables within Perspectives Stories. This functionality empowers story users to answer questions, gain insights, and make data-driven decisions by removing barriers to accessing the data they need when and where they need it.

Understanding your program
New Insight into Site Referrers
Increase your understanding of site traffic with a new Site Analytics dataset for Referrers. A referrer is the previous webpage a user was on when following a link to a domain. The Site Analytics: Referrers dataset provides detail about which domains users were on and the assets users were sent to. Use this data to identify top traffic sources to specific assets as well as whether specific publications are having the desired impact.

Platform Enhancements and Updates
Federal site banner
US Federal Government clients can now display a banner identifying the site as an official site of the US Federal Government. Further, the banner complies with the USWDS standard component which is used on many US Federal Government Sites.
Suppress email notifications
Clients who perform a large quantity of automated updates can now silence emails coming from certain user accounts, should they desire.

End of Support for Internet Explorer IE 11
Due to Microsoft’s announcement that O365 will drop support for Internet Explorer 11 in August of 2021 and support for the desktop application will end on June 15, 2022, Socrata has decided to end support for IE11 beginning on June 21, 2021.
After this date issues that only appear in Internet Explorer and result in NO loss of functionality will no longer be fixed starting on June 21, 2021. Socrata will still be available via IE after this date, but any issues related to site appearance and workflow that still allow users to use the platform will not be fixed.
On October 18, 2021 we will end all support for Internet Explorer on the Socrata platform. At that time, any issues that only appear in Internet Explorer will no longer be fixed, regardless if this causes loss of functionality. Users will still be able to access the Socrata platform after this time, but as the platform evolves beyond the capabilities of IE, users will likely begin to experience issues that will degrade their experience.

Recovery Insights: Safegraph
Tyler Recovery Insights now includes Safegraph Data Premium package, which allows users to track and analyze foot traffic at businesses and public points of interest, a critical signal of economic activity. This detailed data is particularly useful for economic development at the state and local level. In the hands of government leaders, it expands the possibilities for equitable decision-making by pinpointing insights into the most affected regions and industries. This data is granular in terms of its ability to be broken down by census tract (neighborhood level), by industry (NAICS 2 digit codes), and through time (data is aggregated weekly and refreshed weekly). Explore the data as a metric within your Recovery Insights dashboard and intuitively track consumer activity over time, broken down by industry, and geographically at the census tract level. For further analysis, the data is available for export as well as joining by NAICS 2 digit codes and census tract IDs.
This new package joins the Womply Data Premium and Affinity Data Premium package. Together, these three data sources provide state and local policy-makers a nuanced understanding of economic recovery within their small business ecosystems.
