When using Enterprise Data Platform, you have the ability to add your Finance Insights applications (Open Budget, Open Checkbook, Capital Projects Explorer, Open Payroll, Open Finance) to the domain hosting your internal data site. This option is available only to users who are super managers in admin.finance.socrata.com.
Once implemented, finance apps will be accessed as specific pages on your data site and will automatically be included as links in a Finance dropdown on the internal navigation bar. In addition, you will now see the internal navigation bar while on your integrated finance app!
The entire configuration will be done while logged into the admin site at admin.finance.socrata.com.
Adding Open Finance Sites
To add an Open Finance site to your SCGC domain, follow the instructions below:
Create an Open Finance Application
If you do not already have an Open Finance site, you can create one using the Add New Site button on the admin page:
Add an application URL
The next step will be to add a URL to your Open Finance instance. This is set in the application URLs section under Super Admin. The URL must be of the format:
- <YOUR SCGC DOMAIN>/finance/open-finance/<UNIQUE APP INSTANCE NAME>
- Example: support-scgc.demo.socrata.com/finance/open-finance/support-open-finance
- Please note, as a URL, spaces are not allowed.
Configure Open Finance Display Name
The final step will be to configure your Open Finance display name (this is what will display in the internal navigation bar). You can give your Finance Insights site any readable display name by selecting Import and Other > Enterprise Data Platform Integration under Super Admin.
Adding Open Budget, Open Checkbook, and Open Payroll Sites
Once Open Finance is set up you can now also add Open Budget, Open Checkbook, and Open Payroll. The setup for each module is the same, just choose a name that corresponds with the module type. Please note that you can add as many module instances as you would like as long as each name is unique.
Create an Open Budget, Open Checkbook or Open Payroll Application
If you do not already have an app, you can create one using the Add New Site button on the admin page:
Add an application URL
The next step will be to add a URL to your application. This is set in the application URLs section under Super Admin. The URL must be of the format:
Open Budget
- <YOUR SCGC DOMAIN>/finance/budget/<UNIQUE APP INSTANCE NAME>
- Example: support-scgc.demo.socrata.com/finance/budget/support-open-budget
Open Checkbook
- <YOUR SCGC DOMAIN>/finance/spending/<UNIQUE APP INSTANCE NAME>
- Example: support-scgc.demo.socrata.com/finance/spending/support-open-spending
Open Payroll
- <YOUR SCGC DOMAIN>/finance/payroll/<UNIQUE APP INSTANCE NAME>
- Example: support-scgc.demo.socrata.com/finance/payroll/support-open-payroll
Configure Open Finance
The next step is to integrate your application with the open finance landing page. This will be done in Finance App Settings > Search Configurations while in the settings for Open Finance.
Add an application and choose the appropriate App Type from the dropdown, set your unique Application Title, and Application URL you set in the step above. You can add as many applications as you would like in this section.
Repeat these steps for each application you would like to add.
Once completed, your finance sites will now be integrated into your Enterprise Data domain!
