Issue

When I put partial text such as "Sun" (searching for "Sunfield") or "Dev" (searching for "Development") into the main search bar, there are no results. I need a way to search for records that contain part of a word or phrase, not just exact matches.

Environment

  • Open Data Platform (ODP)
  • Enterprise Data Platform (EDP)
  • Applies to: Dataset data tables

Cause

The main search bar is designed to use exact word matching for performance reasons. This helps the platform quickly search through large datasets without slowing down.

Resolution

You can search using partial text by using the column filter menu instead.

From the Primer page on any dataset, click the Data tab to view the main data table.

Locate the column you want to search in, then click the three horizontal lines (≡) on the right side of the column header.

Then select Contains from the dropdown menu, and type in your search.
