Troubleshooting Checklist for Automated Gateway Schedules

Scheduling automated dataset updates is an efficient way to maintain the accuracy and timeliness of your data. However, occasional failures in scheduling can occur due to various reasons. If you encounter a scheduling failure, follow this checklist to diagnose and resolve the issue:

  1. Check Gateway Agent Connectivity:
    • Ensure that the linked gateway agent is online and operational.
    • If the agent is offline, follow the steps outlined in [this article] for troubleshooting.
  2. Review the Domain's Activity Logs:
    • Examine the domain's activity log for detailed information regarding the scheduling failure
    • Access the activity log using the steps outlined here
  3. Verify Dataset Source:
    • Confirm that the dataset is linked to the correct source database. This can be done by accessing the 'schedule updates' modal on a dataset as shown here.
    • Check for any recent changes or updates in the source database configuration.
  4. Verify Data Schema Compatibility:
    • Validate that the schema of the source data matches the expected schema of the dataset.
    • Discrepancies or inconsistencies that could lead to synchronization errors. For example, the dataset having more columns than the source data will result in a schedule failure.
  5. Check Dataset and Schedule Ownership:
    •  Ensure that the dataset is correctly linked to the intended source database.
    • If this happens to be an issue, an active user can create a new schedule and the dataset can be transferred to an active user.
  6. Inspect Gateway Logs:
    • If error messages are not evident in the activity log, review the gateway logs for additional insights.
    • Look for any specific error codes, warnings, or anomalies that could pinpoint the cause of the scheduling failure.
