Terminology
Below are a few often-used terms to add to your lexicon:
- Measure: A measure is an asset that discoverable and searchable throughout the Data & Insights platform. Measures track performance data over time and can be aggregated by time increment (year, quarter, etc.) and a variety of math types (rate, average, etc.). A Measure has two components, a metric card and a metric visualization. Both components can be embedded independently in a Perspectives page.
- Metric Card: A condensed representation of a Measure on a card.
- Metric Visualization: A timeline chart representation of a Measure.
- Reporting Period: The time increment, or interval, for when the data underlying a Measure is reported (e.g. weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually).
- Asset Selector: A modal containing a searchable list of eligible assets on your domain (e.g. datasets, derived views, visualizations). The Asset Selector is used when selecting the data source for a Measure during configuration, and when choosing asset embeds to include in a Story. Note: When configuring a Measure, the Asset Selector shows only datasets or derived views.
- Asset Action Bar: A dark gray header bar that includes options for users to publish a Measure, change its visibility (public/private), and add or manage collaborators.
Permissions and Roles
At the domain level, Administrators and Publishers have the ability to create, edit, save, delete and share Measures on their domain.
At the asset level, collaborators can be managed the same way that they are on datasets.
