Platform Enhancements
- Maps have been updated to default to the Streets basemap upon creation. Previously, new maps would default to the Basic basemap. They now default to the Streets basemap, which provides more detail. Existing maps are not affected.
- Made accessibility improvements across multiple areas of the platform.
- Previously, screen readers could not identify the scan status icon, leaving some users unaware of a dataset's security scan results. This has been fixed, and assistive technology now clearly announces whether a dataset has passed its security scan.
- Text on Story tiles is now easier to read, with improved color contrast for users with visual impairments.
- Knowledge base assistant launched on support.socrata.com to help users get the answers they’re looking for quickly without digging through the docs: Introducing the Data & Insights Knowledge Base Assistant (Beta Version)
Bug Fixes
- Resolved several issues where Preview and Print Mode in Flexible Layout Stories did not match the Edit view. When previewing or printing a Story, the layout now matches what you see while editing, so no more unexpected spacing, ordering, or overlap issues.
Deprecations & Removals
Getty Images Library
The Getty Images library was removed from the platform on July 15, 2026. For the latest timeline updates, please refer to our Deprecation Roadmap.
What this means:
- Existing Getty images remain in place within current Stories and have not been removed or altered as part of this change.
- Users can continue editing existing Getty images within their Stories, including cropping or replacing them with their own uploaded images.
- Users now need to upload their own images when they want to add new images to new or existing Stories.
