Platform Update

Smarter Traffic Protection
We're improving how the platform protects itself from abusive and automated traffic. Starting November 16, 2026, we will begin throttling IP addresses that generate a high volume of error responses. An IP address will be restricted when it receives 600 or more error responses within a 5-minute window.

What this means for you

  • Better performance and reliability. Less bad traffic means more capacity for real users.
  • Stronger security. Scanners, bots, and credential-stuffing attempts are cut off automatically before they can do harm.
  • No change for normal use. Typical integrations and users generate few errors and won't be affected.

Who might be affected

Legitimate traffic that may be affected is security scanning software, which can generate a large number of error responses by design. If you run vulnerability scanners or similar tools against the platform, make sure they handle 429 Too Many Requests responses gracefully, by pausing and retrying after the restriction ends rather than continuing to send requests. Most security software does this by default.

Rollout

To make the change smooth, we're introducing this protection in stages over 4 weeks, lowering the threshold at each step until it reaches 600 errors per 5-minute window. The rollout will be complete by December 14th, 2026.

What happens when an IP is restricted

Requests from a restricted IP address will receive a 429 Too Many Requests response for 5 minutes. After that, normal access resumes automatically.

Accessibility Enhancements

Made several accessibility improvements across the platform:

  • Improved how Presentation Mode in Stories works with screen readers. Previously, starting a presentation gave no announcement, and moving between slides only announced “Page changed” without saying what the new content was. Now, screen readers announce each slide’s position and title (e.g., “Slide 2 of 5”) when you start a presentation or move between slides.

Bug Fixes

  • Datasets with multipolygon columns now display more reliably in the Data Preview page. Previously, the Data tab for some datasets with large multipolygon values could load slowly and show blank fields in certain browsers (including Chrome and Edge). Now rows and columns display as expected.
  •  Resolved an issue where Measures and Stories containing Measures would not render if the Measure’s total was 10,000 or more. Previously, this would happen with large totals on columns formatted without thousands separators.
  • Visualizations with hierarchies now handle URL columns. Previously, when a URL column was one of the levels within a hierarchy, its name didn’t appear in the hierarchy menu, and selecting it could cause the visualization to fail to display.
