Final removal of Dataset Nominations will occur on August 28, 2024.
Removal will affect the following:
- The ability for users (roled or community users) to submit new requests
- Access to the nominations page and all subscribed notifications
A form is the alternative to the current Dataset Nominations page.
There are a few ways you can continue to maintain the nominations function.
- Create a form using a third party service and self manage responses.
- Create a Microsoft Form, automate the responses to Excel, using an Excel plugin pull the responses onto the platform as a dataset.
- Create a Google Form, use the Google Sheets plugin to pull responses onto the platform as a dataset.
- Step 1: Create the form
- Step 2: Automate the form responses to the platform
- Step 3: Add the form link to your domain
Step 1: Create the form
Using Microsoft Forms
Create a Microsoft form for your users to submit dataset nominations.

Step 2: Automate the form responses to the platform
Once your form is created, depending on where you created it, you will want to connect it to your domain.
Using Microsoft Forms
If you’re using a Microsoft form, you will need to use Power Automate to automatically populate responses into an Excel spreadsheet.
Storing this Excel workbook to a mapped network drive, or syncing the Sharepoint Folder to a mapped network drive will allow you to use the Excel plugin create a dataset and automate updates to the platform with a schedule.

Once this automation is set up, you will need to set up a Gateway using the Excel Plugin to pull your responses as a dataset.

Using Google Forms
If you’re using a Google form, you will need to then connect the data using the Google Sheets plugin via a Gateway.

Once automation is set up, you can easily make the dataset public so that community or roled users have access to see what others are suggesting.

Step 3: Add the form link to your domain
Adding a link to your domain will allow users to continue to nominate datasets. This can be done by navigating to your domain’s site appearance (/admin/site_appearance) and adding a link to both the Header Bar and Internal Navigation Settings.
Navigate to /admin/site_appearance#tab=header on your domain and add a header link with the form
This will add a link here for community users:
Navigate to /admin/site_appearance#tab=internal on your domain and repeat the process.
This will add a link to the form here for roled users:
